Early closure of drop-off sites until further notice

05 March 2025

The City of Cape Town's Urban Waste Management Directorate would like to inform residents that, effective immediately, the majority of waste drop-off sites across the city will close at 18:00 daily until further notice. Killarney, De Grendel, Wynberg, Mitchells Plain, Woodstock and Delft will continue operating as per normal hours.

This temporary adjustment is necessitated by unforeseen challenges related to staff transportation.

The Urban Waste Management Directorate understands the inconvenience this may cause and is working diligently to resolve the issue to resume regular operating hours as soon as possible.

‘Residents are encouraged to plan their visits to drop-off sites accordingly to accommodate the earlier closing time where applicable. For a comprehensive list of drop-off locations and their operating hours, please refer to the City's official resources on our website.

‘We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
